OUR SERVICES
Wood fencing
This is the one that pops into many people’s minds when they envision a residential privacy fence. Wood is eco-friendly, has a natural beauty, is easy to stain and blends in well with most neighbourhoods. There are some drawbacks you need to be aware of, however. Unless pressure-treated, wood fencing tends to be subjected to Milton and Ontario's harsh climates and sometimes precipitous climate. And that means it is more likely to rot and not be as durable. Granted, wood species and treatment makes a difference, but it is wise to discuss your specific fencing needs before we recommend a fencing type. Vinyl fencingVinyl or composite fencing is an alternative for the consumer who’s looking for good value for the long-haul. Vinyl fencing is easy to maintain, does not warp, is resistant to pest and insect infestations, and will last a long time with minimal upkeep. Composite is a bit different from vinyl fencing in that it incorporates some recycled wood and PVC material to deliver a strong product, while maintaining some eco-friendly features from wood. Metal fencingThis is a good option for security fencing or if a particular aesthetic is desired in a given environment. Steel or aluminum fencing provides a sturdy and secure option and lasts a long time with minimal maintenance. Wrought iron is basically the Cadillac of all fencing materials. Beautiful and rugged, wrought iron fencing is made to last generations. |
Chain link fencing
This is typically the most affordable fencing option, but provides a nice barrier for many homes, institutions such as schools, daycares and other businesses. |
Deck builder
Our deck building is also bar-none, as we utilize strong materials and unparalleled workmanship to build and install decks of all types and on all surfaces. Sloped hills, pool decks, balcony decks, patios, porches, we build them all. We also build quality gazebos, pool enclosures, cabanas, pergolas, arbors, trellises and expert gate installation according to our clients’ and locations’ specifications. |

Since Milton, ON is situated in Southern Ontario, there is quite a variability in environmental conditions throughout the year, although a true Miltonian and Canadian knows this is applicable throughout the day as well. We're talking about extreme cold temperatures in the winter, combined with wind chill all the way to stifling hot temperatures in the summer, worsened by sticky humidity. Add to that all forms of storms and precipitation, from a light drizzle to torrential rain, snow or hail storms. This is why choosing your fence should not be based purely on aesthetics, but on its ability to withstand these elements. Our Milton fence contractors will assist you in selecting the best enclosure for our climate and your property, whether you want wood (pressure treated fencing vs cedar fencing) or another fencing material.
If you’re looking for privacy fence installation for your home, a pool enclosure for your backyard, security fencing for your business or institution, we want Milton Fence to be your go-to people as we aim to be one of the, if not the best fence and deck companies Milton residents and business owners will come across.

Milton Fence did a great job with our pressure-treated fence installation. They were prompt, courteous, professional and the workmanship is amazing. I would highly work with them again and will probably call them to build my deck next summer too.

I wanted to thank the Milton Fence team for their hard work and beautiful cedar fence installation. You were very considerate of my garden and removed all the construction material before you left, so I really appreciate that!
The professionalism of the Milton Fence contractors was great...they were on time, completed their work in a timely manner and didn't leave a mess on our yard. Most importantly, our new wooden fencing is so beautiful and sturdy. Great job!
Do you need your neighbour's permission to put up a fence?
You are legally required to obtain your neighbour's permission before installing a fence that would encroach on their property or obstruct their view. Both parties will have to come to an agreement on shared costs and selected fence type and style. Even if the fence is entirely within your property, you will still need to follow Milton's zoning by-laws regarding fence height, style, and placement. Therefore, it is a good idea to check with local regulations and consult with your neighbour before putting up a fence. It is always better to communicate and try to reach an agreement to avoid any disputes or legal issues that may arise in the future.
Do you need a permit to build a fence or deck in milton?
If you are building a fence within your property line and as long the fencing zoning requirements are respected (for example, backyard and side yards are to be no more than 2 meters, front yard no more than 1 meter unless attached to a rear yard in a corner lot), you do not need a special permit to build a fence in Milton. Anything outside of the fencing zoning by-laws has to be submitted under a minor variance or rezoning application.
You are required to obtain a building permit to build certain decks in Milton. For example, if you are looking to build a freestanding deck greater than 10 m² in area, or if it is to be attached to a building or structure, you will need to apply for a permit.
If you need any clarification about permit requirements, you can contact the City of Milton's Building Division at 905-878-7252 ext. 2397.

is it cheaper to install a fence yourself?
Installing a fence yourself may be cheaper than hiring a professional fence contractor, but it will depend on a variety of factors, such as the size of the fence, the materials used, and your level of experience and expertise in construction.
If you have experience with construction and have the necessary tools and equipment, then installing a fence yourself may save you money on labour costs. However, if you do not have the necessary skills or tools to install a fence, attempting to do it yourself could end up costing you more money in the long run. Poorly installed fences can require expensive repairs or replacements down the line, which could have been avoided if the fence had been installed properly in the first place.
Therefore, it is important to carefully consider your own skills and experience, as well as the complexity of the fence installation, before deciding whether to install a fence yourself or to hire a professional contractor. If you decide to hire a fencing company, please consider that Milton Fence employs fence and deck contractors that have been carefully selected for their experience, expertise and meticulousness.

So what can you expect when you contact us for a fence installation?
We get your information such as service required, whether you need a fence installer or deck builder, get your contact information, the location and other important details. We then schedule a date and time to visit your home or business to take detailed measurements. Based on those measurements, we will do some calculations and provide an estimate. In the current situation, some material costs fluctuate wildly (i.e. lumber), so our estimate is almost in real time in those situations, kind of like the stock market. When you get an estimate, we will honour that price.
If you choose to work with us, we will set a date and time to start the job and give an approximate date of completion. We will do our very best to complete it within the expected time frame, although various factors may affect that, including inclement weather. We will also handle certain details such as contacting Ontario One Call for locates. If you don’t know what that is, no need to fret, as that is one of many details we’re used to dealing with. You just have to enjoy the beautiful and functional end-product.
